About Me

My sustained investigation is focused on the inherent connection between women and nature. Some guiding questions for this investigation have been how do women and female anatomy reflect nature and the way we should treat it? Why is nature often referred to as "mother nature"? My interest in this subject began during the summer in quarantine where I spent the majority of my time alone in nature watching sunsets, laying in the grass, picnicking, hiking, and painting in the park. The peacefulness and beauty I found in these settings inspired me to capture the feelings and connection I sensed between myself and the settings around me. I explore the fluidity between the female body and surroundings of nature through my use of materials such as watercolor, gold leafing, and collage photos as well as the vibrancy and tone of the colors in each work.
